Dolce & Gabbana: A Beauty Brand That Deserves More Exposure

Dolce & Gabbana: A Beauty Brand That Deserves More Exposure

Maquillaje Dolce & Gabbana

When I think of the Dolce & Gabbana brand, the first thing that comes to my mind is fashion, perfumes, and sunglasses. I never knew that they had a large makeup line, until a few months ago when I received a courtesy package with the new perfume, The One, and a couple of Dolce & Gabbana's beauty products, and WOW! Some of them surprised me a lot!

Perfect Mono Matte Eyecolor

The cream shadows are amazing! My favorite color is Baroque Rust –a coppery-orange color. What makes these $37 dollar shadows worthwhile is that they are opaque, they claim to last up to 12 hours, and they slide smoothly on the eye. I have used all 4 colors shown below and I can say that they do have very good durability. I have oily eyelids and it is rare to find a cream shadow that does not crease and that doesn't require setting with powder, and these achieved it!

The only color that I struggled a bit with was Baroque Black, but I'm not 100% sure if it was me that was not applying it correctly, or if it was the eyeshadow. I must confess that I rarely use black or dark colors on my eyelid; therefore, I will continue to give this color the benefit of the doubt due to my inexperience with dark creams.

The other 3 tones worked great as a base and by themselves as eyeshadows. The only color I used for more than 14 hours was Baroque Rust and it did last very well the entire time. In conclusion, the Dolce & Gabbana Perfect Mono Matte Color shades did prove to have good durability, they are easy to work with (except Baroque Black), and the payoff and opacity is exactly what I want. You can get them at Saks Fifth Avenue or at Dolce & Gabbana .

Miss Sicily Lipstick

In addition to eyeshadows, Dolce & Gabbana has a plethora of lipstick shades and finishes. They have matte and shine lipstick shades, and they even have these, the Sicily lipstick. These lipsticks are inspired by Sicilian women. The line is meant to be the "care lipstick" because, as stated on Dolce & Gabbana's website, it provides the color of a lipstick,  the shine of a gloss, and the benefits of a balm. It comes in sixteen shades and I was lucky enough to try three of them.

From these, the color that I use the most is Carmela . In the photo above, Carmela looks like a red tone lipstick, but when applied on the lips the intensity drops and it leaves a pretty light color tone on the lips. The formula overall feels very luxurious and it does leave your lips feeling very moist and hydrated.

Another lipstick shown above is Baroque Gold 47 (the swatch on the right hand side). This tone is very shiny and it is perfect to use alone, or as a "topper" for any lipstick. In the photo below you can see what the Sicily lipsticks look like with a touch of shine. (I apologize for the blurriness :))

The One

Perfumes Para Mujer

The One is a perfume with a soft floral smell. Since receiving it, I have worn it A LOT.  Its main notes, or at least those that I can smell the most, are lily, mandarin, and vanilla. If you like floral scents, this fragrance is a must try! If you want to hear me talk more about this perfume, and if you speak spanish, check out my favorites video below. I'm also wearing Baroque Rust in this video! : D

Overall, Dolce & Gabbana is a well-rounded brand. It has something for everyone, but I think that their beauty items deserve more exposure. Dolce & Gabbana has many lipsticks, eye shadows, eye palettes, nail-polishes, and even makeup brushes. So, if you still did not know that Dolce & Gabbana had a complete makeup line, what are you waiting for? Check out Dolce & Gabbana's official website or visit a Saks Fifth Avenue  store to learn more about it.
