Taking my car to get serviced is one of the things I dread the most. Sitting in a boring waiting area is just not my thing, I feel like I'm wasting time and I know you feel the same way. If you follow me on my Spanish daily vlog channel, then you might remember the day I went to a dealership and I spent more than 5 HOURS to get an oil change! I promised never to return. This past weekend, I found an excellent way to survive an oil change and without spending a million dollars!
This time I went to Walmart's Automotive Care Center to get an oil change. Disclosure, I know nothing about cars; however, the associate that greeted me explained to me how to check the oil in my car and gave me all the information I needed to decide which oil service was best for my car. I choose the "High Milage Vehicle" service. This oil is recommended for cars with over 75,000 miles. It helps reduce leaks and oil consumption.
Walmart uses Pennzoil, a product that helps keep your engine clean and running for 550 more miles per year. According to them, no other motor oil provides better protection from friction, and I trust them because my Dad has been using Pennzoil for a long time on his cars and mine.
My experience at Walmart's Automotive Center made me change my perspective on the oil change experience. I will definitely be returning. By the way, THEY ARE OPEN ON SUNDAY!!! Don't you hate that on the only day you are available, many car service centers are closed? well, not at this location! I've never been able to say I had fun while getting my car serviced, but this time I did and I wanted to share some tips with you!
Tips
Find a location that is convenient and that won't take 5 hours away from your busy schedule. At Walmart, it is first come- first serve, which means that you won't have to wait for the cars that arrive after you to be serviced first. Find a location that has great prices and that you can trust!
Tip #2: Use Time Wisely
O.k.... so we are going to be forced to be in one location for at least 20 minutes (if you are lucky), so go shopping!!! Honestly, time went by too fast during this oil change. I was able to drop off my car and go shopping for essentials. O.k... I know makeup is not an essential, but I had to check out what's new. I also purchased a little V-Day gift for my boyfriend and some work lunch essentials.
Tip #3: Work or Study While Getting an Oil Change
If you do not need to purchase anything, check out Walmart's in-store restaurant. You can sit there and read for your class, do homework, read a magazine, or eat lunch or breakfast. Take your laptop, tablet, books, notebooks, magazines and make every moment count. There is nothing worst than feeling that you are wasting your time, especially when you have school and/or work deadlines approaching.
I wanted to take this opportunity to take photos for my blog. I'm always on the run and by the time I have time to take photos, it is too dark! So here it is, my casual outfit of the day to go grocery shopping! :D
I loved this little ticket! You can use it to check the status of you car at any register or scanner!
In conclusion, an oil change does not have to be a stresufll expericne. You can study, work, take photos for your blog, go shopping, and eat in one place. After my traumatic experience of a five hour wait, I thought I would never be able to find a place that I could trust and that wouldn't take as long, but I was wring. I was happily surprised by Walmart's prices and knowledgeable staff.
So, how do YOU survive an oil change? Do you take your laptop to work on homework? Do you go shopping? I want to hear from you!
